911! ?Baby Aspirin Dosage?
Question:
Has anyone ever been prescribed baby aspirin to prevent m/c? I have not been tested for antiphospholipids, but, after numerous chemical pregnancies and one really big m/c, I want to try taking baby aspirin as a precaution. Do I take one whole pill (81mg?) once a day or cut it into pieces and take them throughout the day? Help is much appreciated. I seem to have spontaneously conceived this month after years of fertility treatment. I have PCO and my RE upped my dosage of Metformin (now 2000/day) two months ago…which led to a natural cycle for the first time in years and I had a 17 HCG pg test yesterday (12 DPO)! Yikes! But I’m spotting a little and am hoping to nip the problem in the bud with baby aspirin (I could only find children’s aspirin in the store, not baby aspirin…hope that’s right.) Thank you in advance for responding to this frantic poster! Share what you know. Learn what you don’t.
Response:
As long as it is 81mg it’s fine I take both the baby aspirin or if I can’t get those there is a enteric aspirin for heart attack patients that you can take. With the baby aspirin you chew those with the other type just swallow with water or something. I have been taking them since before I got pregnant. Just take it in the am the whole pill. Hope this helps. Heather Heather

Hi! Congratulations on your pg! I’m not pg, but I take the 81mg dose (once a day, adult for heart attack patients) to help with implantation and hopefully to prevent m/c if I do get pg. Good luck — I wish you all the best with this pg. Meredyth ttc 18 months 3rd cycle clomid/cd 26

If I were you, I would be tested for APAs. The test cost me $150 and was sent to the Jones institute in Va. Your insurance MAY pay for it,as it is not strictly an IF condition. If you are APA+, your RE might want to put you on Heparin, a blood thinning injectable drug. I am APA+ and took it with my last PG but had a m/c anyway, but it may not have been related to my APAs. The 81mg ^i^’s
Response:
yes, one baby aspirin a day. also, heparin (shot) progesterone (shots or suppositories) and antibiotics. this all should be discussed with your doctor. good luck.
