BBTs weird, pregnant?

Question:

I am not pregnant. :-(  My temperature dropped. I guess the cold caused higher temps than usual. Well, I am going to try again this month! Thanks for all your interpretations! I just wish the pregnancy test would turn positive one of these months. I friend of mine didn’t find out that she was pregnant until she was 5 months into her pregnancy! She didn’t care, of all things!!!! Can you imagine that? I will know as soon as a pregnancy can possibly be detected and so will probably everybody else on this newsgroup! Thanks again. Guggi – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Yes, I have heard of (but not experienced) women being pg but still having a period.  Have you tried taking your temp later in the day to see if you have a fever?  My advice is …..go to wal-mart and buy a pregnancy test!!!!  Let me Jennifer

Response:

Hi Guggi!  Don’t worry!  One of these days your pregnancy test will be positive — then you’ll have to let all of us know!  By having one of us get pregnant, you might just bring up some of our spirits and help us to remember that despite all that we are going through, it really can happen and will one of these days!  Lots of luck!

Can anybody please help me read those BBTs and tell me whether I read them Day   Temp  Comments 1     97.1 2     97.2 3     97.6 4     97.1 5     97.6 6     97.6 7     97.3 8     97.4 9     97.8 10    97.7 11    97.6 12    96.8 13    97.5  OPK Pos. 14    97.6 15    97.7 16    97.7 17    98.5 18    98 19    98.2 20    98.1 21    98.1 22    98.6 23    98.1 24    98.4 25    98.4 26    97.5 …then I got my period. It looks pretty straight forward. I ovulated day 14/15, had the temp shift on day 17. My baseline was 97.8. However my temps this cycle are: 1     99 2     98.1 3     98 4     97.9 5     98.1 with the exception of day 26 my temps are still up. They usually drop down to the 96.9-97.5 range. But I clearly had a period. Is it possible to have a period and still be pregnant?  It wasn’t spotting it was a period, I am sure of that. Also, from day 24 until now I have had a slight cold (cough, runny nose, etc.). But then the temps are just a little bit higher and nowhere close to a fever. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Guggi

My temps didn’t go down until I actually stopped having my period. It could be several things. You may have had a chemical pregnancy but from yur chart I would say that you didn’t ovulate until day 17, the temp cahnge is almost immediately after you ovulate, like six hours post ovulation you would see a temp shift, not 2-3 days later.  And if you ovulated on day 17 and got your period on day 27, then you might be having a luteal phase defect, or you might have been experincing implantation spotting 10 days post ovulation. If you say that your temps are still high and have remained high for 18days post ov, then I would go and get a HPT and check for pregnancy. Good Luck to you, unfortuantely for me, I had almost the same type of cycle as you, and now know for sure that I have PCO and LPD. Again hope you have better luck than me. From what I have read, this is not necessarily true.  The temp shift is caused by progesterone released after ovulation.  The timing of the temp shift will depend on how quickly your progesterone rises, and that can differ from woman to woman and from cycle to cycle.  I think it is considered most common to see the temp shift the morning after ovulation, but I have read in several places (including Toni Wechsler I believe) that the shift can occur from 1-3 days after ovulation.
