Depo Provera and PCO

Question:

Does anyone know if Depo Provera helps control the cysts like bcp do? Chris Diagnosed with PCO in Aug 98 TTC# 2 asap

I have been on Depo-Provera (150 mg, every three months) for about four years, originally because I had a honkin’ big uterine fibroid tumor that was causing extreme nastiness.  Ick-ola!  It was the size of a very large grapefruit, according to my original hysteroscopy.  (long story)  Anyway, my ovaries were also, at that time, grossly enlarged.  I just had an ultrasound the other day, and the fibroid is the size of a mrable, and my ovaries look normal, except for being covered with teeny cysts.  So, while I am still symptomatic, it looks like the Depo (and maybe the spironolactone) has had a beneficial effect on the cysts, too.  Though I don’t CARE, as long as I can get some of this weight off.
