Fretless Guitar??????
Question:
And who plays ‘em? The only person I can think of is Dweezil Zappa ("Rubberband" from Shampoohorn). Adrian
There is a guy named Tim Donahue who has several albums out, the most recent that I am aware of is called "Voices in the Wind" and features Paul Rodgers (Bad Company, Free) on vocals. On this album, he plays fretless rock guitar. The reviews are very good, but I haven’t heard the album (can’t find it.) I found a web page about him on the ‘net. the address is "http://www.inetnow.net/~piller/timd/tdvw1.htm" Hope this helps. Sammy Hundley
Response:
There is a fretless guitar being made right now by the French company Vigier called the Surfeter. Not even sure if they’re available in this country. Basically a Strat-style instrument but with a fretless metal fingerboard. Shawn Lane uses one. Said to be a complete bear to play.

Fretless guitars are tough to play- especially chords! Get a garage sale beater, and yank the frets out- Or, clean your Parker Fly fingerboard with the wrong solvent…… Please delete "NOSPAM" from the beginning of my email address to respond. THANKS!!!!

Oops. I found out where to buy the Tim Donahue album. It is at CD Now and is available for purchase on the web page I posted. Feeling a little stupid, Sammy Hundley
Response:
French guitarists Nguyen Le and Philippe Caillat ocasionally use some. Watch out for Ph.C.`s forthcoming album `Chansons sans parole
