FSH testing????????

Question:

I have PCO and take provera every month to regulate prolonged heavy bleeding to prevent another uterine polyp.  I spoke with a nurse in an RE office today about a Gonal-F study, they will provide ALL meds. free, but was told that I have to be off of the provera for 3 months prior to the FSH test to get an accurate reading.  I then called another RE office with which we are scheduled to consult soon, and asked them about needing to be off of provera for an FSH level test before IVF, and she said it was not necessary, maybe they required anything to compare it to.  The first nurse ssaid that provera is a hormone, and I need to be off for the 3 months.  Then the other said no.  I am sooooooooo confused!!!!!!! Thanks in advance. Tam in Houston, Texas trying for 10 yrs.

P.S.   I am aware that you do the FSH level on day 3 of my cycle when I am not taking the provera, but the nurse told me no provera at all for three months before the day three test… sorry if I confused anyone…..but I am still torn between the RE’s offices!!!! Tam in Houston, Texas
