HELP!!! Cyst mass?????

Question:

I went for a follicle study ultrasound this am — doctor just called and said he didn’t want to do IUI this time (#2) because of a 4 1/2 cm mass in my left ovary.  I heard him say possibly cystic but wants me to wait 4 weeks for next ultrasound to see if it goes away. If not, he may want to do a laparoscopy? Can anyone help me? I’m freaked about this now. First, DH had low sperm count, now this????? Should I be so freaked (guess it can’t be helped)? What can I expect? He didn’t say anything about PCO which I don’t really know about except seeing it mentioned here by others. Please reply!!! Paula remove the nospam in my email address

Were you on any meds? I developed a similar cyst on one ovary after a round of 50 mg. serophene (same thing as clomid) last spring, so I had to take the next month of treatment off. That month turned into six months (dh and I had some personal issues to deal with), so I don’t know if the cyst is gone or not. Feels like it is. Friends who’ve gone through IF treatment tell me cyst development, then taking a break is common, especially if you have endo, which I do.

Hi Paula,  I know how you feel – ot’s one thing after another.  We went to RE and I knew that I had a dermaoid cyst , I was hoping to bypass any surgery and do iui or in vitro.  But as it stands I have to have a lap to remove it.  I am less than thrilled about this mostly because of the time element.  Be optimistic, yours  may still go  away.  All we can do it take it one problem at a time and solve each one the best we can.  Get it over with and move on.  Our reward will be worth all of the trouble and worry.  Good Luck to you. Sincerely, Carol

Hi Paula. I was recently found on an ultrasound to have a 22 mm cystic mass on my left ovary after two very painful periods.  They are not sure if it’s a dermoid or not and want to wait until after my period next month to get an MRI.   I had one cycle of Clomid in April of this year with no success.  I was going to go back on it until this happened.   Let me know what happens.
