How do you get onto this news group?

Question:

Hello, My husband and I are going to quit using AOL as our internet provider.  I am wondering how people have accessed this news group via the internet. Right now I can view this news group by accessing AOL.  I don’t need to go onto the internet.  But when we change to just an internet provider, I’m not sure how I will access this news group.  Any suggestions? Thanks,  Minny

My husband and I use a local provider in our area.  Then we use Netscape.  He is a student, so Netscape is free for us.  We use netscape to access the newsgroups.  Hope this helps! Karen

Hi MinnyP, When you sign up with an internet service provider they normally nave a news server. You can use any news reader to access this group. Microsoft offers a free news reader called Internet News that you can download from http://www.microsoft.com. The only problem you may have is that some newsreaders do not have good news feed, basically you don’t get all the messages. Debra

You can go to the DEJA News web site at http://www.dejanews.com/ to get to almost any newsgroup, or you can go to several fertility related web sites and just click the link.  I am adding a link to my web site tonight.  http://www.quiknet.com/~hannahs  Just click on the "Newsgroups" link on my page and select alt.support.pco. Hope this helps! Jenni Director, Hannah’s Prayer Christian Support for Fertility Challenges

DejaNews is a great resource because it allows you to also "search" newsgroups based on topics, etc, and follow "threads" easily. Another alternative is to set up your Netscape/Explorer browser to read the newsgroups; your ISP will be able to show you how to do that. Finally, you can also download freeware from the internet, such as Forte FreeAgent, and use that to browse newsgroups.  I use FreeAgent and I find it to be very useful.
