HYPERSTIMULATION!

Question:

I have gained 15cm around the waist and generally been very unwell ie voluntarily bed bound for about 3 days CAN anyone tell me at whatstage they recommend I go to hospital to be admitted Maggie PCO 40+ eggs 19embryos NO transfer!

Response:

Hi Maggie, I know just how you feel.  I had 38 eggs extracted, 23 embryos frozen and no transfer because my estrogen level was sooo high.  I also had a severe case of hyperstimulation and was bedbound for 9 days without any relief from the excruciating pain.  I gained about 15lbs of waterweight, could not eat, had to use a bedpan for 3 or 4 days because I could not walk, trouble breathing for a couple of days.  I tried to drink a lot of water but it was hard because I felt like I blew up more.  I had no relief from the pain. My doctor said as long as I was drinking liquids and urinating I could remain home because I would be more comfortable.  My advise to you is to do whatever feels right.  You will be ok!!  I wish I could have talked with someone who went through this when it was happening to me.  Please e-mail me if you need to talk. Well wishes Sharon

Response:

I am currently pregnant and hyperstimulated. This is a very dangerous situation. I am also at home on bedrest, but I am being closely monitored.  I have gained about 12 pounds in water weight and have difficulty breathing especially afterI eat or drink.  Hopefully you have seen your RE about your situation.  I was told that hospitalization was not necessary as long as I was passing urine and able to breath. My E2 is now at 7000 which is amazing as it was only 3000 during the stimulation phase of this past IVF cycle !  Feel free to e-mail me if I can help. You are not alone !                                Lisa

Response:

Drinks lots & lots of Gatorade, and if the pain gets that unbearable, see your RE ASAP. Lots of luck!  :-)
