London taxi fare

Anyone know the approximate cost of taking a taxi from Paddinton station to the South Kensington tube stop? Is there an additional cost for the cab at night, and for baggage? Thanks so much for the help! Cheers, Ann

More than five pounds, less than ten. (The London black-cab fare structure is hideously complex, being based on both distance and time, so it’s difficult to be very precise — traffic conditions can make a big difference.) Fares go up by about 20% at 8pm and again at 10pm. I don’t think there are any baggage charges.

The same trip can cost almost twice as much if during rush hour. Go get yourself a cup of coffee and wait until it’s closer to 1000. Fares go up by about 20% at 8pm and again at 10pm. I don’t think there are any baggage charges.
If you have more than two bags a cab can charge you ~20p per extra bag. Although a lot of drivers will overlook this. And if the interior is clean and the driver courteous, give him a tip.
