Question:

Jennifer– Welcome!!  Sounds like you’ve had the typical experience of most PCOers. On meds, they most likely will be able to harvest some eggs by ‘forcing’ ovulation.  You may be insulin resistant, and should really try a low-carb diet.  Many of us have lost weight that way.  A few even got regular cycles back. michaela ——————————————————- In the beginning there was the Word.     And the Word was Chocolate.       And it was good…        Confections, 1.5 ounces, 240 calories.

Response:

Thank you for the welcome!  If the clomid didn’t work to ‘force’ ovulation, would pergonal possibly?  (More potent?).  By low carbs, you means, sugars/potatos/breads/pastas?  It’s amazing, I’ll go months and months with not so much as a spotting, but then I diet hard and the second day I flow heavy…very strange.   Jennifer – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Welcome!!  Sounds like you’ve had the typical experience of most PCOers. > On meds, they most likely will be able to harvest some eggs by ‘forcing’ > ovulation.  You may be insulin resistant, and should really try a low-carb > diet.  Many of us have lost weight that way.  A few even got regular > cycles back.

Jeniffer– Pergonal is LH/FSH mix, PCOers usually respond better to FSH only…after all, you *already have* more than enough LH <grin>.  About the weight, a lot of people have tried the Zone diet or the Atkins diet. Me, I’ve just cut down on the breads and easily converted sugared foods. Instead of meat and potatoes, it’s meat, fruits and vegetables. m ——————————————————- In the beginning there was the Word.     And the Word was Chocolate.       And it was good…        Confections, 1.5 ounces, 240 calories.

What would be FSH only?  Do you know where/how I can get a copy of the Zone diet?     Thanks, Jen – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Pergonal is LH/FSH mix, PCOers usually respond better to FSH only…after > all, you *already have* more than enough LH <grin>.  About the weight, a > lot of people have tried the Zone diet or the Atkins diet.

Jen– << Do you know where/how I can get a copy of the Zone diet?>>  That’s better posed to the group.  I’m not sure, but I think there’s a thread on it. <<What would be FSH only?>>  Follicale Stimulating Hormone is better for us PCOers.  It’s the chemical that makes eggs. m ——————————————————- In the beginning there was the Word.     And the Word was Chocolate.       And it was good…        Confections, 1.5 ounces, 240 calories.

It’s a pretty hot item at pretty much any bookstore. Author = Barry Sears

Hi I’m a newbie, so don’t shoot me :)  I’m 28 and was dx with PCO three years ago, and went on 1 cycle of clomid with no success (no ovulation). Through highschool I was a normal weight and had somewhat regular periods. I gained 100+ pounds in a short amount of time and am still very overweight.  The RE I went to basically said he felt confident that if I lost the weight I would begin to ovulate.  I have so much guilt and I feel a lot of pressure to lose weight, but am always trying.  Does this mean that I will never get pregnant if I don’t lose weight?  I’m taking phen/fen and have not been back to the OB/GYN in 2 years (she said to lose 50 pounds and come back/we’d try it again).   I have a transvaginal ultrasound and it very clearly showed the string of pearls (or peas in a pod whatever).  I also have a darkish line on my line which they say is a sign on insulin intolerance. Does anyone have a similar problem?  Has anyone lost weight and gotten pregnant?  I always felt that as a last resort I could do a pergonal and IVF etc, but now I don’t think so, if I don’t ovulate, how can they harvest an egg?  Thanks in advance for listening and any advice. Jennifer
