ultrasound
Question:
It’s not even as bad as a pap… Except they made me drink lots of water… I had to pee so bad the whole time… even after they wanted me to empty it (my bladder) and look again I still felt like I had to pee. Other than that the probe wasn’t exactly comfy, but it didn’t hurt either…. Don’t worry if I can do it, anyone can (unless you’re a guy…. ouch!) Now…amniocentisis….that hurts like heck!!! and you aren’t allowed to move at all! I hurt worse than my heaviest contrations!!!

Really…My amnio wasn’t bad at all (expect waiting for the phone call afterwards). Sorry you had a bad experience. Deb

My doctor thinks I have PCO. He has advised me to get a pelvic ultrasound w/ vaginal probe. That sounds awful. How bad is the test really? Thanks! Joan

**Mine was a day at the beach so to speak..just a little pressure when it was by the bladder…It only goes in about 3-4 inches..and its well lubricated….I had NO pain whatsoever…..now if you want to talk about endometrial biopsies…well..thats another story ** Just Me, Lisa. It isn’t bad at all. It might be a little embarrassing having the "probe" done, but no more than a regular exam. It is totally painless.
Response:
My step-sister in a RN and has had two endo biopses done. The first she cried for hours. The second she said she wouldn’t even consider it unless they sedated her. They gave her for valium to take before coming in. I have given birth, but I don’t think I could go through this. Glad I don’t have to have one.

<<My doctor thinks I have PCO. He has advised me to get a pelvic ultrasound w/ vaginal probe. That sounds awful. How bad is the test really?>> It’s *nothing*….honest!! I’ve had it done over 30 times (literally)!! I’ve even had it done a few times on the heaviest day of my period, and during miscarriage, etc. I’d rather have a transvaginal ultrasound than open my mouth and say "ahhh"! (maybe I’ve had a few too many ultrasounds??) Really, they are totally painless, and it’s fun to watch the monitor.

– Nothing to worry about and they can seee the ovaries clearer with the vaginal probe. This method is used as standard in my area so I’ve had quite a few now and never had any discomfort with it. karen.

Thanks! Actually – it’s better than sex. The probe looks diabolical – like John Holmes on steroids, only skinnier. Or so I’ve been told. On my home planet, the technician puts a condom on it and I always laugh at that point. The good part about it, is that you get to empty your bladder before they use it. My tech lets me insert it – that old control thing makes a huge difference. IT DOES NOT HURT. Except it can be a little uncomfortable when they wiggle it, but by then I’m so busy asking "what’s that? Is it my bladder?" that I don’t even notice it. There are many worse things than that. Trrrrust me. Hugs. Sue
