waxing question

Question:

ok all …  more innane questions from me.  :) has anyone had any luck with waxing away body hair? i ask because it seems like, in the past, when i have tried it, the results have been disastrous.  i did NOT have silky smooth skin for 6-8 weeks…  and the regrowth was NOT lighter and finer as the package/salon promised it would be. i tried this multiple times…  professionally and at home….  i never got to the point where i would ONLY wax, though.  i’d wax, then shave for the next 6 months, wax again…  it was more a means to reduce the hair than eliminate it.  it was kind of pointless, really…  it grew in just as thick, just as dark….  and often grew in ingown so my legs looked even grosser than usual. but i’ve decided to give it another try… i decided to because 1. i have been waxing under my belly button, with much better results than shaving. 2. i notced that there are two areas on my legs that are now nearly permanently hair free.  maybe if i keep trying, they will all end up like that. i’m wondering if the aldactone might help with this.  i always wondered about how they say waxing makes hair grow back lighter, but it never seemed to for me…  if anytihng it seemed to make my hair ANGRY and make it grow in thicker.  but maybe that’s cuz it gorws in finer for women with normal hormones, not for freaks like me.  :P anyway.  i just wondered what other’s responses are.  i guess i’ll see for myself in a few weeks, though.  i only did my lower legs and inner thighs for now, though. – jodi <*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*> Will the fight for our sanity be the fight of our lives?            - the flaming lips <*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>

Response:

This is just my two-cents, but my electrologist, whom I find very knowledgable in these things, said that waxing and tweezing actually makes the hair root become stronger when it regrows and sometimes the hair can grow in thicker as well.  She suggests either shaving or diplatory cream…although shaving gets her highest recommendation. I am a hairdresser and we learned that waxing and tweezing retard hair growth eventually.I don’t think it has on me though.Maybe the hormones are just too strong for it,but it doesn’t seem like I have to wax every two weeks like I used to after coming off the pill.I like to wax myself.I started doing the side of my face too,but then got tired of waxing so much so buzzed it off with my dh’s beard trimmer-felt a little prickly coming back in.Robin In article <8s6pne$at…@nnrp1.deja.com>, – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -  vileg…@yahoo.com wrote: > This is just my two-cents, but my electrologist, whom I find very > knowledgable in these things, said that waxing and tweezing actually > makes the hair root become stronger when it regrows and sometimes the > hair can grow in thicker as well.  She suggests either shaving or > diplatory cream…although shaving gets her highest recommendation. > Linda > In article <sttXPZy00Ui909Y…@andrew.cmu.edu>, >   Jodi Lynn Poniewaz <poniew…@andrew.cmu.edu> wrote: > > ok all …  more innane questions from me.  :) > > has anyone had any luck with waxing away body hair? > > i ask because it seems like, in the past, when i have tried it, the > > results have been disastrous.  i did NOT have silky smooth skin for 6- > 8 > > weeks…  and the regrowth was NOT lighter and finer as the > > package/salon promised it would be. > > i tried this multiple times…  professionally and at home….  i > never > > got to the point where i would ONLY wax, though.  i’d wax, then shave > > for the next 6 months, wax again…  it was more a means to reduce the > > hair than eliminate it.  it was kind of pointless, really…  it grew > in > > just as thick, just as dark….  and often grew in ingown so my legs > > looked even grosser than usual. > > but i’ve decided to give it another try… > > i decided to because > > 1. i have been waxing under my belly button, with much better results > > than shaving. > > 2. i notced that there are two areas on my legs that are now nearly > > permanently hair free.  maybe if i keep trying, they will all end up > > like that. > > i’m wondering if the aldactone might help with this.  i always > wondered > > about how they say waxing makes hair grow back lighter, but it never > > seemed to for me…  if anytihng it seemed to make my hair ANGRY and > > make it grow in thicker.  but maybe that’s cuz it gorws in finer for > > women with normal hormones, not for freaks like me.  :P > > anyway.  i just wondered what other’s responses are.  i guess i’ll see > > for myself in a few weeks, though.  i only did my lower legs and inner > > thighs for now, though. > > – jodi > > <*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*> > > Will the fight for our sanity > > be the fight of our lives? > >            - the flaming lips > > <*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*>=<*> > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ > Before you buy.
