Did I ovulate?
Question:
Hi, all. Just wondering if you think I ovulated. Since I don’t remember ever having ovulated, I don’t know what it’s like. I went off the pill, and started Glucophage(Metformin) two months ago. About two weeks ago, my breasts became very tender, and I was having so much clear discharge that I had to wear panty liners. Now, two weeks later, I am bleeding lightly(started yesterday). Do you think I ovulated? Thanks, Laura H.

Sounds like a good possibility! Do you remember if you felt "slippery" around that time? The first time I ovulated on metformin, I remember thinking to myself, "Why am I so wet and slick?" I had never experienced that before! I thought to myself, hmm, maybe this is some kind of a weird side-effect of metformin. It wasn’t until when my period came all by itself exactly two weeks later that I realized, "Hey, I ovulated!" Bet you did, too. Congratulations! Clear discharge (egg-white cervical mucous) occurs before ovulation and 12-16 days after that you get AF – sure sounds like you ovulated. You may try charting your temps to be sure next time. I also get the tenderness in the breast, and I do freeze a lot at night. It really sound like you did ovulate. Get yourself a thermometer. An ovulation one is the best, but I just use an electronic one. Works very well for me. Measure you temp when you wake up (before you move too much), and start to chart. Your temp will be high when you are ovulating, and stays high for a few day, after that it drops and you will get your period within a few days. This will tell you a lot about your body. A good book to read is "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. It talkes about temperature, fluids, etc. It is a very good reference, and was suggested by someone on this list. It can help to get pregnant, but it can also teach you how to avoid to get pregnant without the pill. — Katharina dav…@german-usa.com 35/5.9/C0-nt/met2550 262(March 15,99)/218

Hi, Thank you for your replies. I am so happy to hear that my body is finally working like it is supposed to. Your support and encouragement means a lot to me. I didn’t think anyone had replied to my post, because I looked for replies on this newsgroup, and there weren’t any. But then, I was browsing around on http://www.deja.com and found your replies there! So, I’m hoping you’ll see this, as I’m posting it on the newsgroup. Thanks, again, Laura H.

I am at the 22nd day of my cycle…no breast tenderness or much cervical mucous (if at all). Im not very good at all this. But I am having some twinges of pain in my left ovary and left ovary only. What do you suppose that means? I do take my temp. but I am horrible at it. Either i forget it one day because i wake up late or i fall back to sleep with thermometer in my mouth….hopefully next month I will be a little more consistant. I took clomid on Jan. 2nd. what do you think these twinges are?? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks, Kellie
Response:
I took clomid this month for first time too and am having mild pain in my ovaries each time I have to urinate it seems! I don’t know what this means – an OPK came up positive so I think the clomid worked, but why the pain??
