Pregnant after Low Carb alone??
Question:
>Have any of you gotten pregnant after Low Carbing, alone, without the aid of >Metformin or fertility drugs??
Count me in here. I wasn’t even trying!! Didn’t even realize I was low carbing it at the time. I had just lost my taste for the stuff after being sick for a week. I must have gotten past that carb-craving stage while I was sick and just never went back to it. I lost about 40lbs. About 2 years later I met my husband. Even though I had been diagnosed with PCO 10 years before we were even using condoms as contraception… but you know how that goes sometimes… the heat of the moment and all, you kind of forget every once in awhile. Well apparently we forgot Then a couple of weeks later… surprise! I now have a perfectly healthy 8 month old baby girl. So… to make a long story short (oops, sorry, too late eh?) Yes, it can happen. Good luck to all of those TTC, may you have your own little "surprise" soon. Tina

Hi Maggie, I got my GTF Chromium at GNC. My female cycle supplement was Psycles from Starlight ( an MLM that my MIL is a distributer). I think any supplement billed to relive PMS and the regulate the cycle would help. I also took an OTC multi-vitamin. I’m sorry to hear about your troubles. Best of luck. Have any of you gotten pregnant after Low Carbing, alone, without the aid of Metformin or fertility drugs?? I’m hoping that LC dieting alone may kick my body into gear?? Wishful thinking??? Jenny~ I can only hope that this will be the case for me. However, I have a good friend who did get pg on low-carb alone. She wad diagnosed with PCOS, got pg on fertility drugs and m/c’d. Then she tried for about four years to get pg without medical intervention. She began lcing in Nov of 1997 (I believe) and was pg by March 1998, along with losing about 40 lbs. If I remember correctly, she also being spontaneously having AF on the second month of LCing. She now has a beautiful baby boy. I do hold out a lot of hope that lcing will work for me as well. Hey Jenny, I am 20 weeks Pg. I stopped Clomid last Aug. Went Lower carb around Thanksgiving and climbed on the LC bandwagon in earnest a week before Christmas (carzy, but something clicked). Looks like i o’d and Concieved the first week in Jan. I was also taking GTF Chromium and a herbal supplemnt -Psycles – that supposedly is for the female cycle- more for PMS symptoms. Of course this is my second. I was Dx’d PCO after having no problems concieving #1. Gained 40 lbs with that pregnancy and it got worse afterwards. I have always had the heavy facial hair (heavy mustache in 6th grade), irregular periods… I also believe my Paternal Grandmother may have been PCO. She had three kids. #2 5 tears after #1 and #3 12 years later. She was also diabetic in later life. Good Luck. Hi Maggie B! I’m a Maggie B. too (middle initial.) Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am currently pregnant after IVF but it will be an inevitable miscarriage (my hcg isn’t rising). Where did you get your supplement for PCO symptoms. I have looked in health food stores and never knew what to pick. Thanks and best wishes.
Response:
yes, me. I added some fairly heavy exercise to my life ( weight training with really light weights and many reps 6x a week, alternating upper body then lower, and then downhill skiing). I started low carbing end of January, and had a spontaneous period on the 3rd of March. I fashioned my own regime after reading all the books except atkins, and kept the carb count to under 40 a day. I let myself have one free meal time a week, usually Saturday night because we give a lot of dinners as my husband’s a gourmet cook. OF course, I was only really stringent for about a month, and a little more lax after that. I took potassium supplements. I’m now pregnant. My history is that I NEVER had spontaneous periods, and this whole experience has been completely eye opening. I’m not sure if I should continue to low carb now – sister had a very difficult birth because of what they later decided could have been gestational diabetes. A thirteen pounder. This scares the shit out of me so I’m seeing a dieticion/nutritionist Monday. Good luck – Avril MJW28 <mj…@aol.com> wrote in article <19990506234536.18762.00000…@ng30.aol.com>… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Have any of you gotten pregnant after Low Carbing, alone, without the aid of > Metformin or fertility drugs?? > I’m hoping that LC dieting alone may kick my body into gear?? > Wishful thinking??? > Jenny > MJ…@aol.com > "Do what you can, then pray God will give you the power to do what you cannot." > (St. Augustine)
