Please please please give me your opinions…
Question:
I posted earlier about being diagnosed the other day and my dr. wants to put me on birth control pills to get my periods going again. I was hoping to use the Metformin, but she said she hadn’t heard anyone use that to treat it. In order to see another doctor I have to get a referral for her. Do you all think I should and if so how??? I have to talk to her in the next day or so. I don’t know which would be better… to be on the bc pills or the Metformin. HELP!!! Thanks a ton! Jenn

Jenn… Just *my* opinion but I think I would choose to go the Metformin route. Just ask her for a referral to an RE and tell her you would feel more comfortable with an endocrinologist handling your case. I know that I wasted several years with a gyn simply because I loved the lady – she was very kind and compassionate but didn’t know what she was doing
) If I had it to do over again, I would have seen a specialist right away. Just my two cents… Karen http://members.truepath.com/My_Hope/karen.html

I would say go the Metformin route also… I tried the pill and had a terrible experiance, my PCOS symptoms ended up worse when I stopped taking the pill than before I had started it. I have been on Metformin for 6 months now and have had a good experiance (other than adjusting to it durning the 1st month… see my URL below it explains my experiance on the "MY STORY…" page). Also, to read more about Metformin use for PCOS see the URL I have listed below along with my Home Page URL
