IR ?….

Question:

Wow. I just came to this site for the first time and it’s giving me an eerie crawling sensation…..all too familiar, you know? How do I know if this is my problem or not? Thanks. xklm

Response:

I was wondering which came first: the IR causing carb intolerance which usually leads to weight gain…OR the weight gain causing the IR/PCO? TIA!

I was told that in my case it was the IC/PCO causing the weight gain. i was a small to normal child before i hit early puberty and began to gain weight uncontrollably.  At the same time, I developed acne, oily skin and hair, mood swings, had menstrual difficulties from the get-go.   After developing these symptoms, I gained weight continuously for over 20 years, even on weight loss diets.  The only time I did not gain weight was on a 500 calorie a day liquid fast program. When I look at pictures from childhood, at age 6 I was a normal, smallish child, and at age 8, I was fat, had breasts, acne ridden, and horrendously greasy hair.  The change was so dramatic and so drastic.   Tracy
