METFORMIN
Question:
Hi I linked to one of the websites that Reb said were useful in one of her past replies. I have to say I found it incredible! I have never understood the links between diabetes and PCO before and usage of METFORMIN but now I am clear. I do have one question thought that I’d appreciate an answer too and that is… Does anyone know if METFORMIN is prescribed by doctors in the UK on the NHS? Any comment would be great! As ever thanks for your support Ali

I believe that St. Mary’s or St. Paddington’s or St. something or other has some doctors that do. Have to find the reference. Dr. Pardeshi, Emailed and posted Thank you so much for commenting on this newsgroup. As you can see from many of the comments, several women have not been treated medically nor have they been treated with compassion when dealing with PCOS. Some of us are not trying to conceive and have lived most of our lives on this syndrome’s roller coaster. All of us want better health for ourselves. Thanks again for commenting. Should you have anything to add which we could take to our doctors, it would be greatly appreciated. Yours, Carolyn Gregg, Canada– Please use car…@home.com

Is the experience with metformin success mainly in those overweight? Or is there benefit in taking this drug in someone who has normal or even below-normal body weight (or body mass index)? Thanks Claire

Even some of the diabetics that use it to control insulin resistance are slim. My father-in-law, for instance. I guess it is one of those YMMV things. ^—^ Cathy { ‘ . ‘ } ` "Those who play with cats must expect to be scratched."
