products, mostly atkins
Question:
I was curious, I went looking at my local shopping centre after reading the post about the pancake waffles and atkins bake. I can only find soy flour atm, atkins bake (which I found in a store at highpoint shopping centre in Melboune Australia), which is over $30au for a small canister, is just way to expensive, as was most of the products in the atkins range that the store had. My questions: How important is it to add the soy isolate?? What is soy isolate? Can any Australians give me a clue as to where I might find it here? I will not order products off the net. Response:
The Atkins mixes taste disgusting. Their pancakes have a texture like that foam they stuff couches with. You can bake much more delicious baked foods using vanilla Whey Protein Powder as a flour substitute. Google "Atkins baking mix" for over a thousand postings on the subject. The Atkins cereals are oversweetened with something that left a dreadful aftertaste in my mouth that would not quit. Also, too much soy can push a marginal thyroid right over the edge. It’s a good idea to go easy with any soy products. Google "soy poisoning" for the details. — Jenny - Low Carbing for 4 years. At goal for weight. Type 2 diabetes, hba1c 5.4. I found some references to that but no details. Does anyone know of posted recipies, instructions, etc? Any particular brand of ‘vanilla whey protein powder’? Skinny

Skinny, You can use Google Advanced Groups search to find recipes. If you search on "REC" and "protein powder" you should turn up a lot of recipes. http://www.google.com/groups?as_q=REC&as_epq=protein%20powder&&as_ugr… .support.diet.low-carb — Jenny - Low Carbing for 4 years. Thanks, Jenny.
I also appreciated this tip, which iirc came from your site: [[ Feedback from people who have used my recipes suggests that you may get disappointing results if you use some of the more expensive whey protein powders. I use Precision Engineered brand, which can be bought very cheaply from Vitamin World and some other chains. ]] Skinny – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Skinny, You can use Google Advanced Groups search to find recipes.
