Saw my RE yesterday

Question:

I saw my RE yesterday.  He says I am doing so well….he is keeping me on metformin, but he says they are conducting a study for a new drug.  I can’t remember the name, but he said he considered me for the study, but the people conducting the study did not want any type II’s in the study.  Perhaps they want to study the prevention factor. My dr. is excited by all the new things coming to light about PCOS.  He says there is so much more you can do than 10 years ago.  The insulin connection has been a very big breakthrough. He told me if *I* run across new and exciting news to send it to him.  I print off things from the net and mail it to him.  He said he wished all my patients were that way.  I know some people’s drs. wouldn’t be at all the way he is. I told him that some women’s drs. tend to blow off PCOS unless the lady in question is TCC and he was saddened by that.  Of course, he cares about his patients as people including their health. Unfortunately, I have heard that one of the head drs. at that RE center tends to fall the catergory of "It’s your fault your that way.  I won’t help you because you are too fat.  If you were trying to have a baby I would."  A friend of a friend was seeing that jerk.  She called me up and asked about my dr.  I saw he is a sweetie, so she saw him and last I heard, they were doing the bloodwork to prepare her to be a part of that study for the new drug.  The other dr. wouldn’t even consider giving her anything, just told her to lose weight.  (And didn’t even mention how she should do that–if drs. are going to suggest weight loss, they might want to mention that women with PCOS need to watch carbs.) I am really blessed in my dr.  I do know that.  ^—^ Cathy { ‘ . ‘ }       `  Those who play with cats must expect to be scratched. 4Cysters: http://pages.ivillage.com/bh/cystercat Other pages: http://peaceonearth.faithweb.com http://littlec.faithweb.com http://www.i-love-cats.com/meow/cat

Oh Jill, I can’t actually be in the study because I am diabetic.  He wished I could have been.  I thought a girl I referred to him was going to be in it, but her last tests showed she was diabetic.  Just a couple of months ago, a jerk dr. (in the same center, unfortunately) told her there was no reason to put her on medicine.  She is now on met, thanks to my doc.  It is just too bad that neither of us can be in the study, but he says he will get me posted on the results.  :)  ^—^ Cathy { ‘ . ‘ }       `  Those who play with cats must expect to be scratched. 4Cysters: http://pages.ivillage.com/bh/cystercat Other pages: http://peaceonearth.faithweb.com http://littlec.faithweb.com http://www.i-love-cats.com/meow/cat

Thanks.  I am on met and it works ok for me too.  This drug will be just another alternative along those lines.  I just wish I could remember the name of it so I could do a web search for my webpage.  I should have written it down.  But I will find out next visit how things are going.    ^—^ Cathy { ‘ . ‘ }       `  Those who play with cats must expect to be scratched. 4Cysters: http://pages.ivillage.com/bh/cystercat Other pages: http://peaceonearth.faithweb.com http://littlec.faithweb.com http://www.i-love-cats.com/meow/cat
