Clomid & OPK question
Question:
<<I guess the moral is…if you really want to know the precise day of ovulation…do the body temps in the morning…It worked for me It’s great that it worked for you. However, temps don’t spike until AFTER ovulation….sometimes 72 hrs later, which for many of us would be too late. I think ultrasound and E2 monitoring is the best way to go, IMO.

<<Aug. was my first month on 50mg. day 3-7. I started OPK test on day 12-17 all the test came back positive is this normal? 6 days seems like a long time to have a positive, altho I suppose it’s possible. However, 2 things come to mind…. 1. do you have pcos? If so, you could have a high baseline LH, which could give you positives all the time, on or off clomid. 2. are you reading the OPK correctly? A faint test line is not a positive. It has to be as dark as, or darker than, the control/reference line.
Response:
If you’re taking the OPK’s too early in the day–they will appear + , but it’ won’t be accurate. Void several times in the morning –& then test later. I’ve read posts that suggest testing OPK after 10am. Good luck! JM theposts on Clomid. Tina, I was on Clomid 50mg. I found all 3 months I ovulated a few days early. I started OPK on day 11, and it was + already. So, you should start OPK earlier than you normally would when on Clomid. Hope this helps. TOMORROW IS ALWAYS A NEW DAY Lisa

Hi all… I have been on Clomid in the past (sucessfully I might add). Interestingly enough, I have heard two different theories from two different RE’s. My first RE did not recommend the OPK because of their unreliability. He had me monitor my OV by morning temps only. This RE also did an Ultra sound to check on follicle development, I noticed the temp spike, hubby and I did the baby dance, and we got pregnant! This time…3 yrs later…I just completed a Clomid treatment of 150mg’s days 5-9…I am using the OPK per the instruction of my new RE and I feel less sure about whether or not I ovulated. I got negatives for each day 12 – 16. However, I am having a lot of OV pain. Tomorrow I go in for US and see what is going on. I guess the moral is…if you really want to know the precise day of ovulation…do the body temps in the morning…It worked for me.
