do ovarian cysts suppress ovulation?

Question:

<<Anyway, since the cyst delayed my period, do you think it would suppress ovulation? Yes, cysts can suppress ovulation and delay menstruation, if they are producing estrogen.

Response:

Shelley, Yes, ovarian cysts do supress ovulation.  You might want to try to stay on the drugs your currently on for now and see, but if they don’t stop the cysts try something else. Good Luck! Faith

Hi everyone! I went in for a baseline U/S today to get on clomid. I am on metformin as of now and have been ovulating and cycling on my own the past few months. My period was really late last month so the Dr. seems to think my cyst is the reason why. I am encouraged by this because I thought the met. had stopped working. Anyway, since the cyst delayed my period, do you think it would suppress ovulation? Thanks for your help~ Shelley PCOS Metformin 1500 mg. One cycle clomid 50 mg. (no response) TTC almost 2 years
