first IUI

Question:

It’s a go. I got the okay to start my Fertinex, 4 ampules, tomorrow night for my first IUI cycle. I am kind of excited even though I don’t think this will get me pregnant but at least I feel like I am doing something productive. This will give my re information about how I react to Fertinex so that next month I will take Lupron, and then January I will do IVF. My husband’s sperm count ranges from 2.5 million to 4 million  per cc of mobile sperm. not so high but I think it is enough for the IVF with or without ICSI. So here we go. Abby

Response:

good luck and +++++thoughts

Response:

Hi all. Well this is my first day on Fertinex, 4 ampules.  I feel drugged and real tired. I have taken 2 naps today already. Is this normal? It sure is better than clomid. On Clomid I felt so angry and irritable. I don’t feel that way on Fertinex. Last night the shot my husband gave me hurt but he thinks he didn’t hold the skin right. Better luck tonight. I feel like I am on a drug trip that isn’t ending. I read other people’s email and I feel so bad whenever I read that someone has not gotten pregnant during another cycle. My heart goes out to you. And I am just beginning this road trip. Maybe this drug is making me a little emotional. I took my dog to the bet and they needed to take blood from her. I usually don’t like to see her get blood taken but today I just felt so much for her. Like how could I do this to her. mmmh sounds a little emotional to me. Take care everyone.  Abby

Response:

The needle doesn’t hurt its the drug.  Don’t worry about the skin.  Just get the drug in as quickly as possible.  Good luck

Response:

abby hope this will be the first andf last cycle of fertinex that you will need. its not as bad as chlomid so i guess we all pull through it somehow debby

Response:

Also make sure that the alcohol has dried, this can make it sting.  I also get very tired toward the last few says of taking fertinex. Good luck.

Response:

Please tell me what the effects of taking clomid are, as well as what an IUI procedure feels like.  Painful?  As painful as an HSG? Please advise, Lisa

Response:

I only get hot flashes from clomid and a little irritated.   IUI was not painful.  The first had a sharp pain and that was it.  The second no pain at all.  Feels like a regular pap.  Sometimes if they nick the cervix you will get a little pain and there can be some spotting and cramping that evening after. I am a little (alot) crabby on clomid (200mg./day), but that’s about it.   the IUI hurt the first time (little pinch) because my cervix wasn’t opened fully, however, the next day i went it, it was clearly open and the tube slid right in.  Very little spotting occured. kelly

Response:

Clomid doesn’t involve any pain, just mood swings as would most hormone altering drugs.  But it works, I have a three year old and four month old twins, all a result of Clomid.  I got pregnant with the twins after only one month of Clomid.   Good Luck!

Response:

<<Clomid doesn’t involve any pain, just mood swings as would most hormone altering drugs. My first 2 cycles of clomid were excruciatingly painful.  My ovaries hurt so badly, all I could do was cry and lay down for weeks, and could barely move. It was sheer agony.  However, I am an unusual case…..I hadn’t ovulated *at all* in the prior 16 years (severe pcos), so my ovaries weren’t used to any stimulation.  After that, stim cycles were a *lot less* painful, even with injectables.  So yes, for some, clomid can cause a great deal of physical pain.  However, I didn’t have any mood swings.  By the way, clomid *doesn’t* work for everyone…I only ovulated 3 out of 8 cycles with it, and many don’t ovulate with it at all (especially those w/PCOS).

Response:

Lisa, clomid effects everyone differently.  Most people I know didn’t feel anything at all.  I was very irratable and moody.  It made my period last alot longer, and after 2 months I developed a cycst from it.  But that doesn’t happen to everyone, and the cycst was no big deal.  I just had to go off the clomid for 1 month and do a natural IUI cycle. IUI doesn’t hurt very much at all.  The 2 week wait is probably the worst part.  don’t worry about the procedure, it really isn’t bad at all, and lasts about 5 minutes. Lisa

Response:

everyone is different but i was really moody and had a lot of hot flashes but mostly under my arms { strange but true } iui was painful only around 20 minutes later. crampy. but others have said it never bothered them. good luck                      lori
