Question:
You need to find out the brand name of those SF gummy bears or I will hunt you down. :-)) Do they have no carbs at all? I’m suspicious, but desperate. — -jennifer low-carbing 190/161/125 – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -quick. Probably didn’t make but 10 worms. On the other hand, I went to the store and for $2.50 can get a whole pound of sugar free gummy bears that taste a whole lot better (at least has different flavors…getting real tired of "jello" flavors). Don’t get me wrong, Melissa 210/206/120 since 1/1/99 Gummy Worm recipe one large box of sugarfree Jello, any flavor (or 2 small boxes) 4 envelopes Knox unflavored gelatin 1/2 cup water Combine above ingredients in a pan until blended. Response:
I got them at a grocery store in the bulk section. Next time I go, I’ll take a look and ask the produce guy if he has any info about them. Well, the nutrition information card said no carbs, but you’re not the only one who is suspicious. Since they didn’t come out of a bag, I really have no way of knowing if they truly are sugar free. It also makes me suspicious because someone in another post (sorry, I forgot who) said that she didn’t like the taste of sugar free gummy bears, and I could not tell the difference *at all*. These tasted really good. Hmm. I’ll have to do some more investigating. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? I’ll let you know if I find the name. I guess this is another YMMV-type thing. I made them for my husband for the first time last night. He (or really =we=, since I had a little bit, too) found them very good. Neither of us like the flavor of the sugar free gummy bears. But I made a recipe of this in strawberry, and it was delicious. Instead of cooling it on a plate I used a 6" X 10" glass baking dish, and then cut it into little pieces about 1" square. That made it seem like an awful lot of candy. Someday soon I want to do some in lemon. My favorite candy was always lemon drops, and it’s the only sweet I really miss. Maybe this will take care of that craving. Oh, they were in the little bins that you scoop out yourself and they weigh at the register? Yep! That’s why I didn’t know the name brand. Also, do you have a Mr. Bulky’s in your mall (or other bulk store)? They always have a big variety of sf candy. They probably have gummy bears and you could probably get the nutrition info from an employee to make sure they are also carb free. Melissa 210/204/120 since 1/1/99
Response:
Yep, that’s where I found them, too. BTW, I’m the one who said that my DH and I didn’t care for the sugar-free gummy bears. Maybe I should clarify that and say that we never really cared for any type of gummy candies, even back when we could eat the regular stuff. So you couldn’t prove it by us that the ones we bought as "sugar free" really were. We just assumed we could believe the sign. (May have been a big mistake — who knows?) But we do love the gummy candies made from the "gummy worm" recipe. Yes, most commercial sugar-free candy is extremely high in carbs. That’s why I stick with what I make myself although it is a pain sometimes. — Debbie Cusick I plan to be a procrastinator some day if I ever get around to it. Check out the asdlc FAQ at: http://www.grossweb.com/asdlc/index.htm

Fifty/50 Sugar Free Chocolate Bars (the little ones that come in a little bag): DON’T DO IT!!!! Eewwwww! These things were horrible. The first bite didn’t taste so bad, but after I chewed it a few times it got this really bad taste. While at the store, I found sf gummy bears in the bulk section.

I tried several new things recently. Wanna hear about them? Well, I’m going to tell you anyway!
Wasa Fiber Ryes: Yummy! I thought it would taste like crap because I hate rye and everyone has been saying they are like roof shingles. I thought they were great! It just tasted like a sesame cracker to me, and I love sesame crackers. Also, I just put a little chive and onion cream chese on it. It was so good!! I’ll have to try not to O.D. on them! The first bite didn’t taste so bad, but after I chewed it a few times it got this really bad taste. Is it just me? I guess I was expecting too much from sugarless chocolate that is less than 2 grams for each bar. A good carb deal, I guess, if you really need chocolate and you can stand the taste! While at the store, I found sf gummy bears in the bulk section. It had a nutritiion label that said carb free. I just hope someone didn’t put regular ones in there!! Anyway, they were really good. Kinda hard to chew through, so you have to eat them slowly. Sorry, I don’t have a brand name for you. Just wanted to share my find! Just wanted to share. Melissa 210/203/120 since 1/1/99
