Glucophage & HGC shot + preg questions & surgery questions

Question:

Here is the deal: I went to the doctor to get diagnosed for PCOS.  When I got there she did a pelvic ultrasound and showed I had cysts on my ovaries.  The ultrasounds also showed that I had an egg sitting in one of my ovaries so she gave me an HGC shot to make me ovulate.  Sent me home with the progesterone losengers a precription for Glocopage XR and told my husband and I to have relations every other day. Questions: 1.  Is this a long shot?  She was so darn excited that I had an egg sitting there I forgot to ask her. 2.  I couldn’t take the Glocapage XR because I choke easy.  I’ve asked for for the smaller ones.  I’ve read that surgrey increases your chances for lactic acidocess.  So do they stop you early or what? 3.  Today is the fourth day after I got the shot and I’m cramping like right before a period. Any idea what this is? 4.  If it does take, how high are my chances for miscarriage?  I don’t want to get my hopes up. I wasn’t really planning on getting preg I wanted to treat my disorder but having the egg there just seemed like a gift that I couldn’t throw away. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Carrie

Carrie. Questions: >>>1.  Is this a long shot?  She was so darn excited that I had an egg sitting

there I forgot to ask her.<<< You’ve got the same shot as anyone with one egg sitting there, so get funky and go for it cause you never know! >>>2.  I couldn’t take the Glocapage XR because I choke easy.  I’ve asked for

for the smaller ones.  I’ve read that surgrey increases your chances for lactic acidocess.  So do they stop you early or what?<<< Depends on the surgery but you can stop taking it two days before and about a week after.  If you’re being injected with any kind of iodine or dyes, then you DEFINTELY stop taking it. >>>3.  Today is the fourth day after I got the shot and I’m cramping like right

before a period. Any idea what this is?<<< Probably a small case of a hyperstimulated ovary.  The HCG shot actually grows the one eg the doctor spotted along with any oher smaller follicles that are on both ovaries. >>>4.  If it does take, how high are my chances for miscarriage?  I don’t want

to get my hopes up.<<< Not sure of the answer to this one, it would depend on if you are hyperstimulated.  My guess is as high or low a chance as anyone else. Success vibes to you! Theresa

Thanks for answering…I’m so new at this :) If you have to have a C-section would taking the glucophage be dangerous?  I had a cold coneization surgery for a CIN III pap smear and I was told this might be a possibility. Also, what is a hyperstimulated ovary? Thanks! Carrie PS. We’ve been getting funky every other day and I’m exhausted!  ;) "Theresa Nelson" <missare…@home.com> wrote in message

I have been advised to stop taking it *2 weeks prior* to surgery.  I actually stopped it 11 days ahead of time both times and was fine. Carrie: > >>>3.  Today is the fourth day after I got the shot and I’m cramping like right > before a period. Any idea what this is?<<<

The hypervigilance of the 2-week wait.  Suddenly all those things you never noticed before become significant.  :-) Good luck to you, Carrie! Beth

Carrie, A hyperstimunlated ovariy is just a fancy way of saying it’s an oversized ovary, usually perfectly normal when given HCg because it causes the other follicles on the ovary to grow as well as the mature one you’re ovulating from.
