GLUCOPHAGE~SUCCESS

Question:

After starting glucophage in December and getting my thyroid under control, I am pregnant!  It came as  a very big suprise. Here’s some advise for everyone with PCOS.       Please have your thyroid and insulin levels checked!!!    Clomid didn’t work for me and it doesn’t for many women with PCOS. Glucophage (for insulin levels) and Synthroid (for thyroid) worked for me.  I’m hoping it will help others.  Please give it a try and get tested! Thanks

Response:

This sounds like my story…luckily I educated myself online.  But it still took 2 years to get here.  my first pregnancy was right after I was told by 2 ob/gyns that I would never get pg. without help.  By some  miracle we conceived on our own.  This second pregnancy was more of a shock to me.  Clomid FAILED big time.  Never had a dominant follice…never got bigger than a few mm. >Are you planning to take metformin throughout your pregnancy?

no, because everything I’ve read suggest it isn’t healthy for the baby…and i don’t really think it helps me in any other way besides becoming pregnant…and luckily I am!

Karen, I know what you mean!  I’m not sure how much longer I would have stuck with it.  I know I am lucky and will never forget that fact.  Good luck to you!

Actually, continuing metformin during pregnancy reduces the risk factors for 1st trimester miscarriage for pregnant women with PCOS.
