. I though opk would tell you that would ovul in 24-36 hours. Chances are you are not Oing that day. But that your luteal phase is a bit shorter, say 12 days. We do not all have 14 day luteal phases. Mine is only 12 also. Are you doing temperatures too? Temps coupled with OPK tests, will give you a fairly definitive answer. Good Luck Gwen

<<I though opk would tell you that would ovul in 24-36 hours. Isn’t it TWELVE to 36 hrs? But, you could have caught the surge on the way down, too. If you test each morning, you could have surged the afternoon before, and not known it, cuz you didn’t test in the afternoon. Therefore, it’s possible that you have a normal luteal phase.

I’m on met and clomid. For the past few cycles, I’ve gotten AF 14 days after a ++ opk. I though opk would tell you that would ovul in 24-36 hours. It appears that I’m ovul on that day that the kit goes ++. Has anyone else experienced this? -**** Posted from RemarQ, http://www.remarq.com/?a ****- Search and Read Usenet Discussions in your Browser – FREE –

Hi, You probably aren’t ovulating on day 14. Once your LH surges it takes some time (36-48 hrs) for the egg to finalize its maturation. It’s more than likely that you have a 12 day luteal phase. This isn’t uncommon and doesn’t mean a problem. Not everyone has a 14 day luteal phase– even among normally fertile folks. A LP of 10 days or less is probably a reason to discuss progesterone supplements with your doctor, but 12 days is just fine. If it makes you feel better, ask your doctor to do a progesterone level on you 9 days after your next positive OPK. You’ll be able to tell from this whether your body is producing enough progesterone to support a pregnancy, and if you indeed did ovulate. If your P4 is greater than 4, but not much greater, you might want to consider some additional luteal phase support– crinone or suppositories are popular choices for clomid users. If it isn’t greater than 4, you didn’t ovulate and the "surge" you detected could actually be an artifact of your PCOS. Best wishes. Melissa
