Help with Skin Tags

Question:

Can skin tags be removed? If so, is it expensive? Mine seem to be becoming more frequent and larger. I am on Avandia. My RE will not put me on metformin for reasons I am hoping to get answered in a few weeks. But, the skin tags are making me feel ugly.

Response:

I had 9 skin tags removed about a month ago.  There was nothing to it! My family doctor did it right in his office, he removed them with this lil wand like thing that has a circle of wire on the end of it. He said it uses the same type of electricity as a microwave. Go figure! Of course, first he numbed the areas and then removed each one. Anyway..I have had these skin tags for as long as I can remember and they were getting larger. Mine were located under my arms just above where you would apply deodorant. Hope this helps….. Amy

I had skin tags removed at my doctors office a couple of years ago but she told me that I could do it myself at home.  You just need to a clean pair of cuticle scissors.  Make sure to sanitize your scissors and the skin before snipping off the little buggers.  Some of the bigger skin tags may bleed quite a bit but don’t worry.  If your afraid to do it start with some of the smaller skin tags and work your way up to the larger ones. Since my skin tag removal two years ago I have been cutting them off myself and have never had any problems.  Besides it saves you a bundle in doctor bills. I did mine at home, too. But I was surprised at how much even those little buggers bleed! PS. For the longest time I thought I was getting those things from necklaces or the car seat belt!!

I just came in from the opthamologist – he said to sterilize nail scissors if I want to or tie a string on the larger ones and they’d drop off in three days.  I have 8 on my left eye.  I can pay him $125 to take them off.  I think I’ll dip into the piggy bank. Carone

Put lavender oil on them, and that will help to get rid of them. emz emz_mi…@powelle84.fsnet.co.uk – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Midge wrote in message … >Can skin tags be removed? I just had a thought…how about if you used that stuff you use in your mouth when you have a toothache?  It supposedly deadens the mouth tissue, so I see no reason it wouldn’t also deaden skin outside the mouth.  If you could deaden the area, then it wouldn’t be so *shudder, shake* bad… Wish I could remember what that mouth stuff is called… Barbara – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> <debbie…@my-deja.com> wrote in message news:8d0s8o$b6a$1@nnrp1.deja.com… > > In article <VZ3I4.12945$EG2.9…@newsfeed.slurp.net>, > >   "Midge" <eagl…@pld.com> wrote: > > > Can skin tags be removed? I’m a dentist. The product you’re thinking of is ambesol, oragel or orabase. Unfortunately it only works well on mucous membranes, it wouldn’t do much on intact skin, but it wouldn’t hurt you either. I thought about removing my own, but I’m concerned about scarring. — Jan 216/166/145 on WW 1997-1998 Gained it all back in 2 years. 221/213/145 Atkid since 3/4/00 (had to go off for a week to have blood work done) "Leveritt Family" <lever…@erols.NO.SPAM.com> wrote in message

It’s called "Anbesol"…but would you really want that getting into your blood stream? I’d be more willing to try an ice cube first, seeing as you’re actually going to be breaking the skin when you take them off. Just my .02 "Leveritt Family" <lever…@erols.NO.SPAM.com> wrote in message

It’s no more painful than tweezing your eyebrows or pulling off a bandaid. Debbie Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I’m with you…my doc freezes mine and it doesn’t hurt a bit.  They get a funny grey color, then black then drop off with no pain and no blood and guts.
