holding on to hope (pg ment)

Question:

Trisha, unfortunately I don’t have any insights for you. I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you and I hope that you are just not a "textbook example". Good luck and ftta Petra

Response:

Response:

Trisha,      Although I probably know just enough to be dangerous, I would *not* put much faith into the beta results.  I have read over and over that they are not indicative of a healthy pg.  Mostly, they seem to be a "guiding" tool – one that is not always on target.  So, without telling you the the cheesey line: "Keep up the hope"…"Keep up the hope" ;)   Thinking of you… Missy in Indiana – Hopeful for next IVF try in Aug TTC = 3+   Clomid = 5 cycles FSH (1 with IUI/AI) = 2 cycles IVF/ICSI/AH = Nov ‘98 M/C and D&C = Jan ‘99 at 13 wks DH diag w/ "BT #13 and #14" FET/PGT = June ‘99; blasts didn’t make it after thaw

Response:

Hi group… Well, my beta’s didn’t double…..can anyone give me hopeful beta numbers? I know originally I always heard they should double in 2 to 3 days, but my doctors office firmly believes it must double in TWO Days. When they called me it sounded like a damn funeral announcement… Please, don’t tell me websites. I’ve got them, they just make me crawl deeper into the hole…give me good news if you have it… Can I be on of the THREE DAY miracles? 12 dpt – beta was 261 14 dpt – beta was 424…still rising, but not a shooting star! — Trisha93, ttc 6+ yrs IUis,IVFs,FETs, 3m/c She who laughs last thinks slowest

Response:

Dear Trisha-      I don’t have numbers,  but a possible reason.  Possibly,  several embies implanted at first.  But,  now,  the numbers aren’t doubling as fast because there aren’t as many embies.  I am not positive how the betas work,  but I hope this idea is a possibility.      Don’t you give up!  This is going to work.  I will says lots of prayers for you. Mari

Response:

Trisha ,        Your numbers dont sound bad to me like the last post it could be a twin turning into a single ? We are all praying for you and wish you high numbers . Remember that all women are different and our bodies dont always do the same things! We are NOT text books as most drs would like to belive. Sending you positive thoughts and prayers Tammy

Response:

Trisha, My Dr. did tell me every 2-3days #’s should double.  Yours dont seem that far off! right before I had my Mc my #’s went from 630……3days later 730.  Your numbers still sound VERY good to me!  I wouldnt allow yourself to think bad thoughts…..I think your going to be just Ellen PCOS 1 ~i~ 3/99

Response:

When I was pg with my 1st <snip I had a very healthy baby <snip So try not to stress out too much, you’ll be fine. Laura

Can we all find out where you bought your crystal ball? Is this a version of relax and….? Meg F

Response:

Howdy! How are you doing today?  I had my 2nd beta yesterday, the #’s weren’t doubling, but they are slowly rising (1st beta only 15 @ 10 dpt; 2nd – only 24 @ 12 dpt; maybe my #’s double every 3 days, & not 2?!).  I’ve been having some pains, not really cramping, I hope everything is alright. I’ really worried & scared that I might be getting my hopes up.  My RE doesn’t want to take another beta until Tuesday.  I don’t know if I’ll make it until then! This waiting has been difficult, but hopeful!  I just keep praying!  I want this so bad!  Thanks for listening! And please don’t give up hope!  Liza ;-)

Response:

That is what we were told also. I often wonder how one can use a hard fast rule about doubling in 2 days when the distance in time measuring the hormone is unlikely exactly that far apart. I have also read some amazing stories on these groups over the years about HCG levels and know that they are just guidelines. I know nothing can take away the torture of waiting, but hope is there to hold so cling on. I agree with others that an initial multiple can be dropping out as an explanation. That is not a happy explanation.   Take it easy, take deep breaths, stay distracted as possible, if spotting then up the progesterone (can’t hurt), and know we are all going to be thinking of you, Trisha and Liza, to get good news next test and from now on! Meg F – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -For what it’s worth, I’ve read that numbers should go up at least 66% every two days (double every 2-3 days).  Try to hang in there!!  I’ve heard some pretty amazing stories about rough beginnings that turned out perfectly.  Believe me, I know the waiting is torturous, but know that we’re all praying for you. Kim

I’m praying for you!  I don’t think can add any more wisdom to the other postings, but I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for you.  Good luck! Lynn

I thought what Laura said was positive she was just telling Trisha that good things happen. Ellen PCOS 1 ~i~ 3/99

Trisha,    When I started reading your post, I thought , "OH NO! Not again"  but then I got to the bottom and read your Beta results and my heart lifted!  Your #’s sound ok to me. They didn’t double, but close to it.  It’s NOT an exact science with every woman.  My RE has always said they LIKE to see them double, but as long as they are going up substantialy, it’s way to soon to worry.  And I agree with some of the other posts.  Maybe at first you had multiples implant, and one little guy just couldn’t hang on.  Please keep us posted.  I’ll be praying for you.  Fondly,  Rea

When I was pg with my 1st, My beta did not shoot way up either.  My dr actually told me to expect the worst. But I didn’t give up hope and let him know that I wasn’t taking his word.  I had a very healthy baby (9lbs 7ozs).  My body just didn’t produce huge amounts of the hormone that’s all.  So try not to stress out too much, you’ll be fine.
