How is cycle length determined?

Question:

Can someone please clarify this for me? I read here and there that some of you have 32 or more day cycles. Once my period ends I get it again in about 28 days. So is it a 28 day cycle or do I have to include the days of bleeding too? Thanks a bunch, Gina S. PCOS, IR 1500mg Met Currently: 50mg Clomid1st cycle

Response:

The first day of your cycle is the first day of spotting or bleeding.  Joni

Response:

The way I figure it is, I have one VERY heavy day during my period, and I usually have 28-29 days between that heavy day. The number of days that I spot, and the lenght of my period (complete end of spotting) varies, and I can’t track it easily. But I can track that one day very easily, and for me, that is usually day 2 of my period. Afsi

You have to include the days of bleeding.  Like Joni said, "day 1" is when you *first* start to bleed.  The cycle ends when  you get your next period (which becomes Day 1 of the next cycle).
