hsg test ?
Question:
Hi Cindy. I had an HSG two days ago. I was pretty uptight about it from hearing all the stories about it being painful. They told me to take 800 mg of ibuprofen, but that never really works for me, so I took something with codeine in it. Take whatever you decide on at least an hour before. They told me 30 minutes, but any these drugs just don’t work that fast. It was a pretty painful procedure in my case, but it’s over *very* quickly. Getting the equipment all set up (speculum goes in, then something around the cervix, then the tube for the dye is put in place) took about 5 minutes and was uncomfortable but not a big deal. My MD uses a numbing drug on the cervix which I’ve been told makes a big difference. You can ask for it. Then I had to wait about five minutes for that to take effect and then the dye goes in. I found the dye very painful, worse than my very bad menstrual cramps, but it was over in about 30 seconds! Just breath deep and try to stay relaxed. I had some cramps through yesterday but feel great today and just swam 3 miles. Best of luck and mostly just try to stay relaxed. I did some deep breathing before I went and I think it really helped. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello everyone, Well, I am sad to say that CD 1 is here….. Hi!! I had an HSG Over the summer and I am sorry but it was painful for me. Try to really control your breathing and not tense up..and take some IB Before, as I didn’t and that is probably why it bother me so bad. Bring a maxi with you too for after. I was fine by the next day. Good Luck!!!! Beth – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello everyone, Well, I am sad to say that CD 1 is here….. So I get to schedule a HSG for next Friday (26th). Hi, I had an HSG too and found it uncomfortable, but it was not too bad. I was given a prescription for one valum though and I think that helped. Theresa

Hi there! I had an HSG last month and I was pretty nervous about it. But it wasn’t really too bad. It was uncomfortable though, I think there’s no way around that, and I had rotten cramps for a couple of hours after. I also took a couple Advils an hour before.
