I need some really engrossing books to read

Question:

Hello Cathy, Last year at Christmas time I read a book called Fall on Your Knees, by Anne-Marie MacDonald.  The book was probably 700 pages… very juicy.  I literally could not put it down for two days solid.  My eyes were bloodshot from reading it for such a long period of time. It is just an excellent fictional read about a family and its history. (This includes babies). hope you find something to take you away from this stuff for awhile. Gwen

Response:

I would recommend any books written by Patricia Cornwell she is an excellent author and all of her books keep me guessing and engrossed. Ellen PCOS 3rd cycle of clomid 50mg 1~j~ 3/99

Response:

"Where the Heart Is" is pretty good. (I forgot the author’s name, but it’s one of those Oprah things) Be warned….it’s about a pregnant teen who gets stranded while driving crosscountry, and ends up living at Walmart.   That said, I don’t think it would be "hard to read" for a primary infertile, tho.  It’s a very quirky book, and the entertainment of it lies in its quirkiness….IMO.   -Kay (who is halfway thru t/book)

Thanks Gwen it definitely sounds like something I’ll like!

Well, I just finished Nicholas Sparks book, A Walk to Remember.  I really enjoyed it.  It doesn’t take long to read (I finished in 2 days but could be quicker).  I laughed in parts and cried in parts.  I believe he also has 2 other books which I’ll be going to the library for. Has anyone read Angela’s Ashes yet?  I’ve been hearing some good things about it.  I’ve had it on hold at the lirbary for weeks and am in a very long line waiting for it, so I guess that’s a good sign! — SueB ~~  delete the word remove from address to email

Angela’s Ashes was very moving, a very good read.  Same author (Frank McCourt maybe?) has a newer book out called "’Tis" but it’s in hard cover and I haven’t read it yet.  Hope Angela’s Ashes comes in soon! Cathy

I’ve read both of Frank McCourt’s books.  Angela’s Ashes is excellent & ‘Tis is OK, but not written quite as humourously.  I think that Angela’s Ashes is going to be made or has been made into a movie, as well.   —  Kim Emory  TTC #1 since 8/97  finally diagnosed with PCOS 11/24/99 – starting Metformin therapy  7 cycles 150 mg clomid – injectibles/IUI next cycle    HSG 6/16/99, PCT 7/30/99    LAP & HYSTEROSCOPY  9/23/99

I just got hooked on Sue Grafton, and am winding may way thru the series of "alphabet mysteries" (that’s what I call them.) They are engrossing to me! Plus, I’ve got a whole series to get thru! Courtesy of my library, I’ve read  A is for Alibi, B is for Burgular, I’m reading D is for Deadbeat right now,  while C is for Corpse is waiting in the wings (yes, I’m trying to read them in order so I don’t skip one). Mystery books are the only ones I read (but not the gorey stuff, like Stephen King–he’s just too scary–gives me nightmares). — Trisha93, ttc 6+ yrs IUIs,IVFs,FETs,MCs
