Knee surgery–postponing clomid (sad&slight vent)

Question:

Its me – back from the orthopedic MD. He recommended surgery for me knee. The soonest he could do the surgery is in 6 weeks. And a six recovery off of work (YEAH). But this means that I cant start the Clomid again until my recovery period. I was planning to start it in 2 weeks. Now I cant. I guess I could postpone surgery until the postpartum period but he says that there are virtually no ligaments holding my knee on my leg. So I guess I have no choice. I am so disappointed. I have never had surgery before and that is scary to me. I have the option of general anesthesia or a spinal. I would rather not know whats going on so general might be the way to go but I am nervous about being intubated. Christ I am such a wimp. I was so hoping to start the Clomid again. Oh well. Response:

Hi Kristin I’m sorry that your surgery will postpone your medicated cycles.  I know how frustrating that can be.  But I think that you will be glad you took care of it when you finally do get pg. About the surgery.  I had a general for my thyroid surgery (since it’s on the neck, general is the only option).  They intubated me after I was asleep and the tube was gone by the time I woke up.  My throat hurt like H*ll, but was that bec. my thyroid had been removed or from the tube???  Probably both. Anyway, I was frightened of intubation too, and thank goodness I did not have to deal with it AT ALL. I hope this helps, and wish you tons of luck with your surgery and with the resumption of your IF treatments. FTTA Meredyth

Response:

My friend you need to have that surgery done as soon as possible.  My neighbor just had it done.  I don’t want to scare you but be prepared for some pain.  Go under general anesthesia.  You will be asleep then they will tube you.  Its not a long surgery so you shouldn’t have too much of a sore throat.  I am sorry that you have to put off your IF treatments, but pretty soon you will be up and around and then you will be ready for a pregnancy and not have to worry about the extra weight on that old knee.  Good Luck.  Sharon

Response:

Sorry to hear you need surgery, but I hope you’re back on your feet in no time–and healthier than ever. Stephanie PCOS, anovulatory moving on to Fertinex/hCG/IUI
