Menstrual cycle

Question:

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Not only did mine come 10 days early the first month, but it lasted 2 weeks!!!  I am usually so regular I can time it by a watch and it usually lasts about 5 days. Also that first month my breasts were VERY tender.  2nd month period was on time, but breasts were VERY tender again. 3rd month period on time, cramps not so bad, breasts sort of tender.  4th month was back to normal……actually was better.   =) Well since I’ve got PCOS, getting it at ALL is an achievment… I went from having to take hormones if I wanted to have a period, to having a fairly regular 30-day cycle pretty much as soon as I started lowcarb. I get, not really WORSE cramps, but they seem to be focused a little differently, like more of a backache then in the pit of my belly. And my breasts do get tender, but no more so than before! Atalanta Pendragonne Are you dreaming? Are you SURE?

I went from only having AF 1-3 times a year lasting a month or more each time (PCOS) to having it every 30-60 days, lasting 4-5 days. Several possibilities.  For us PCOS women, because of the insulin resistance, our ovaries produce too much testosterone… low-carb=less testosterone. Don’t know about women without PCOS. Another thought: fat cells produce estrogen in addition to what the ovaries produce.  Perhaps a side effect of increasing lipolytic activity in the fat cells is a decrease in estrogen production? — Marion, 213 in December ‘98 Atkid since 1/18/99, soccer+pumpin’ iron 205/183/? Response:

I have been getting mine on average anywhere from 10 days-2 weeks early since starting LC(July 31,99) and have had a lot easier time of it and not as much cramping. I think the diet and the changes reset your cycle or something(JMHO) Maggie 245/205/150 Atkins/PP Mix since July 31,99

Response:

Oh, yeah, you name it, induction will mess it up temporarily. It gets much much better as time goes on. — Cassie (327/268/152) (June 28, 1999) For email, please use czeps [at] home [dot] com – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Has induction been known to bring on menstrual cycles early? Response:

Hi,      I had mine every 2 weeks since I’ve been on this (7 weeks) praying that it was a fluke from the diet as I am never regular ,but this is a bit much.    I know the diet puts your body through some changes and probably affects your cycle as well.               Lauren 268/249/150 Atkins since 9/7/99
