I’m not sure about Metformin but I was told by my endo and the pharmacist that Rezulin counteracts the effective of bcp’s for birth control.  You may want to check on Metformin. Would people be willing to send these to me both good and bad, so I know what to look for in approaching my doctor about this? Thanks Victoria

Hi, I thought I would give you my experience thus far with Metformin. I was diagnosed with PCOS in January and have since been taking the metformin, I at this time have normal menstrual cycles, and my testosterone levels are on the decline, I have also lost nine pounds as of the six week mark and am still going down.   The downside that I have experienced is extreme gastrointestinal discomfort associated with a direct effect of the metformin, accompanied by very unpleasant diahrea, however that is probably why I have lost the weight.  Well good luck to you. Nicole

I am fast approaching my one month mark on metformin, and have lost 10 pounds. I got a period. I had severe stomach problems the first week and a half….now I am pretty much okay(I was even constipated one day).  I am pleased with metformin so far…By the way…I have not been low-carbing it just yet…my dietician said to wait for a month to let my body get use to the met before doing anything else drastic to it….she believes that in some instances this may be what causes prolonged stomach problems in metformin users…too much change to soon….
