DH and I went to Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and on a cruise to the Bahama for a week for our honeymoon. I agree with some of the other posters that it was a time of great joy, little did we know that all that talk of living ‘happily ever after’ with a large family was not meant to be…:-( Friday will be our 5th anniversary, to celebrate we spent a week near Cancun for our vacation in July. Carolyne in TX – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Looks like some of us need another change of pace to keep us occupied. So let me ask: Did you and DH have a honeymoon? If so, where? If you could take another one (or first) where would it be?
Response:
Nope! I got that award! It was my first marriage, my fiance was in the navy. He was being shipped out and had only a single day off, so we got married that day and he flew out that night!!! I guess it was a portent of how that marriage would end like it had begun–with us apart! LOL (in hindsight, of course. ) Carolyne in TX – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Ok I win the worst wedding night award!! No honeymoon . We could not afford one so FIL got us a motel room Yea motel not Hotel! It was the worst one in town ! The bed was lop sided and there was a neon sign in the window ( not good for romance) ! Dh got very happily drunk at the wedding and after driving to this godforsaken motel in my wedding gown Dh starts whining that he is hungry and wants Taco Bell? I told him that if i left to get Taco Bell I was NOT coming back!!! We packed up and left the shit hole and went to his parents house only to find the entire wedding party there finishing off the leftover beer . Dh thought this was great and his mom made him a pizza . So needless to say my wedding night was rather strange!! THe next night was WONDERFUL and our life together has been the same (strange and wonderful!) If we every have a real honeymoon i think a cruise would be great. Tammy

Hi all: Dh and I were very young, and very broke when we first got married. So, we just took a few days off work and went camping in the mountains. (We live in the Denver Metro area, so we have the Rocky Mts in our back yard so to speak.) Pam

We had our travel agent give us a 3 night stopover in Orlando before we spent a week in beatiful St. Maartin. Wouldn’t have changed a thing, but might try another island if I had a 2nd honeymoon.
Response:
We didn’t take a honeymoon when we first got married. We had paid for 1/3 of the wedding and were flat broke. But things have changed drastically since then! We are leaving Friday morning for Hawaii for 9 days. I’ve been calling it our "second honeymoon" and I’m getting pretty excited about it. Michelle
Response:
Ok, my honeymoon was quite interesting too. We went to Bermuda. The island was beautiful…….well it was……for the first three days. Our fourth day there we woke up to a huricane (hurricane Emily). We had to stay in a a shelter in the hotel basement for 2 hours. The island got destroyed so there wasn’t to much for us to do for the remaining 4 days. We’re leaving for Paradise Island on Tues. 9/7/99 for our 12th anniversary. I’m really nervous about all these hurricanes that are following hurricane Dennis. It seems our lives are destined for turmoil. Karen 10 yrs IF 4 IVF’s 2 Mc’s

We went to Jamaica for 9 days, and both got the flu almost immediately. Spent the whole time in bed, and not for the right reasons

Assuming unlimited funds, right?
We’d take a nice long driving trip around the US — trying to hit every state. (Yes, I know this would take a while, but it’s our imaginary honeymoon, right?) Paula

My DH and I went to The Virgin Islands for our honeymoon. We stayed in this secluded condominum type hotel. All of the rooms had pools that faced the jungle. (I say had because it washed away in a hurricane) DH and I were taking advantage of our total seclusion by skinny dipping in the pool. Suddenly we heard the sound of a big truck and men shouting. They were coming down the side of the hotel cutting the jungle back so it wouldn’t grow onto the patios! I stayed huddled against the side of the pool until they were gone ,and then we both just died laughing. It was a wonderful honeymoon. Ten days in paradise! Mollie

We live in Hawaii, so for our March 1995 honeymoon, we flew to Seattle and drove up to Victoria-stayed for a few days, then drove back to Seattle and stayed a couple days there too! Jocelyn

We went to Jackson Hole,Wyoming for our honeymoon, too. It is a beautiful & very fun place to visit! We try to do something every year around our anniversary time. We went on a cruise one year, went to California a few times, etc… We just had a 7th anniversary on Friday and we went to Dallas, TX. Next year, I would love to go to Hawaii! Jennie

Hi…I’m new to this board and thought I would take part in this survey. DH and I were married and had our honeymoon in Jamaica. We are going back this year again for our anniversary. It was very romantic and special, even if his nasty stuck up sister continues to look down her nose at us for having the wedding we wanted to have. A tropical island is the absolute best place for a wedding and/or honeymoon IMHO. :-) Hugs, Deb

I had just started a new job since I was moving to N.C. from Florida to join my DH. So we had to go somewhere in between since we didn’t have a whole week. We went to Charleston, SC, and it was lovely. We stayed in a bed and breakfast on the battery and did some sight-seeing and had a good time. The 300 count sheets and the fresh coffee and croissants were wonderful! we didn’t visit with other B&B guests though

We had our honeymoon in Ft. Lauderdale and then to the Bahamas. If we could

When DH and I got married 3 years ago, we went to Daytona Beach for four wonderful days. We live in Florida so it wasn’t a far drive we couldn’t leave our then business for very long and we didn’t go outside of our hotel very much

DH and I worked for the same company so we couldn’t take off at the same time. Three months after we were married Hurricane Georges was headed straight for us (New Orleans) so we had to evacuate. We drove north to a small town in Arkansas – El Dorado. We turned running for our lives into a honeymoon! Krissy PCO & Endo TTC 16 months

Yes, we had a wonderful 10-day honeymoon to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Anyone ever been there??? If not, you gotta go sometime! The Bar J Ranch dinner and show is great, and so is Billy Burgers. The Grand Tetons are beautiful, and so is Jenny Lake – a glorious hike. Never thought about another honeymoon; I don’t know where I’d want to go… Gina

We honeymooned at a Bed and Breakfast up in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York (it was inexpensive, not too far to travel and had wonderful food, great sightseeing!). I say all that because we didn’t go into debt for our wedding, that was important to us because we had just closed on the house. I WANTED To go to DisneyWorld….can’t go there enough times. But if DH could take another one, it would be Ireland…hands down. we have relatives there, and HE just LOVED it. I would prefer Cancun in winter. — Trisha93, ttc 6+ years counting down the 2-wk wait IUis,IVFs,FETs, 3m/c 3 Kinds of people: those who can count and those who can’t!

Yes,DH and I went to New York,by train, for one week the day after our wedding. What a happy time that was-little did we know what heartache the years to come would bring! So,it makes me even more glad that we had such a wonderful time then.We did a lot of sightseeing throughout Manhattan, went to see Miss Saigon on Broadway, went to see Letterman twice, stayed at the Plaza Hotel for a night,so we were able to do the Central Park Carraige ride, saw the John Lennon memorial, and where Jackie O had lived(an idol of mine). Saw the today show being taped, visited NBC studios, saw the "Dateline" set,and SNL set.Just so much!! And great food, and people ,on top of it. We absolutely fell in love with the place. I highly recommend New York at Christmastime-there is nothing like the ice skating rink, and the Christmas tree outside Rockefeller Center. BEEUTEEFUL! What a great way to start our marraige-we had a blast. LINDA

We got married and honeymooned in Big Bear, California. I would LOVE to take my DH to Hawaii. I’ve been there but he never has. I think it would be just the ticket for both of us to relax. And maybe even get lucky and come home with an unexpected souvenir.LOL! Laura

DH and I eloped to Las Vegas (flew the whole wedding party out with us) and then went back on our one year anniversary by ourselves. So that was kind of our honeymoon, I guess. But if I could take a second honeymoon, anywhere in the world, gaurenteed, it would be to the maternity ward! Rea
