OT..Posting Frequency (?)

Question:

I’ve noticed at times, someone has mentioned about how much a person posts on a ng. I am curious to see the frequency, but don’t know how to find out. Can anyone help me out? I use Webtv, if that helps. I lurk on other ng’s and just want to see how much some women post, because at times, there’s cat fights concerning  women who claim they post, but have been known not to. Is it just a matter of keeping personal track, or is there really a way to find out the numbers? Thanx, Bren (sorry this may be a dumb question,   but I’m not too bright when it comes to   this on-line stuff….sorry, I’m old!!!!) :)

Response:

Go into Dejanews.com, Type in Infertility in the "search" and that will take you to these message boards.  You can then look up messages and click on "posting history" by someones screen name.  It will show posts sorted by message boards.

Hi Brenda, I use deja.com — to be more specific, I use the Power Search at address, newsgroup, key words, or subject. Paula, afraid that having this page bookmarked makes me look a bit like Big Brother ;-) ))

Thankyou for your help. I visited the dejanews.com and it was just so amazingly different!! It blew me away to see just how much more I can do and see. The way I use the ng’s now, is just by "searching" the name, and the groups appear. From there, I see each and every post and response, not just the original header. My way is a very LONG way, but I find it pretty easy to follow. Once I have read the responses, they are just simply highlighted so I am aware that I have read them. Going through dejanews.com, shows me only the original header, and, as I wanted, the posting histories….that was really fun.! I can’t believe the amount of some posts……so many active people and so many broken hearts…. Thanks again for your guidance. Bren

Response:

Bren, I have used deja since I started posting (since Oct) and very stupidly thought it was *how* you posted to ngs!  Since then, I’ve learned that there are many different websites which accomodate the ng’s, plus "usenet" which from what I’ve learned has been around forever! I’ve been using the internet for years, but never got involved with ngs til I started seeking support for my IF.  I like deja, but have lately noticed some problems with it.  It don’t know if it is just Y2K problems, but it has been down, and sometimes things seem to get "jumbled". When this happens, I’ll usually got to www.remarq.com It has a different format than deja, but I can see you guys there too! Lynn – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Thankyou for your help. I find it more effective to download news by Netscape – email and news in the same thing. I can "drag" news I want to save to another folder (e.g. "save news", or could be "IF news").  ,,  ,—, (_,/ _/   _/__/ ,,/_/,,/_/,,,

and I can sort the news differently any time: by date, by subject, by sender, by thread…  ,,  ,—, (_,/ _/   _/__/ ,,/_/,,/_/,,,

I’ve always used either Netscape or Microsoft Outlook Express (which I use now) to access the ng. It allows me to flip back and forth between mail and news right in the same screen. And, as turtle says, it’s fast, *and* you can save messages, move them, sort them by date, sender, time, subject, etc. If anyone wants to learn how to access ngs via Netscape or Outlook Express, just email me and I’ll be happy to help. ~~ Vicki ~~ 4 failed IUIs multiple biochemical pgs Want to know what your ng friends look like? http://www.seethelight.net/friends1.htm Come put a face to the name! |

My DH and I have been trying for 21/2 years now.  We have done 5 clomid cycles, 1 humegon, and 2 gonal-f with IUI, and 1 gonal-f with IVF.  We have also had my sister donate eggs and still we have no luck. Wondering if anyone else has PCO and been pg or is pg?  Also how long did it take you?  We are currently switching RE.  It is very hard just waiting to get in with a doctor.  It’s like you want to keep trying until it finally happens. Angie, Have you tried metformin or any other insulin sensitizing medication?  I have PCOS and have been PG with and without its help, as have thousands of women with PCOS.  Metformin and its like have helped when IVF and injectables have failed (or have taken forever to work).  Please do some research and talk to your RE about it. Good luck. Beth — Beth’s PCO Page    http://www.win.bright.net/~mickbeth/pco.htm

hello my name is clarice i was diagnosed with PCOS in August of 1995.  I started on clomid it took 3 cycles of clomid (150 mg ) to work for me the first time.   My very first pg ended in miscariage back in 1993.  I had stopped bc pills and got pg with no help but then lost it.   So in nov. of 1995 we had a mature follicle develop with 150 mg of clomid.  so they gave me shot of hcg and 2 weeks later i took pg test and it was +++++ .  Then after our son was one we wanted to try again So we tried on our own and for 2 1/2 of no b/c we still hadnt conceived even after we found out i had hypothyroidism and was given medicine to help me with it.  then in may of 1999,  we went back to same clinic and clomid wasnt working this time so we had to move on to Gonal f and IUI. my 1st IUI worked believ it or not}!!  i was shocked.  So people with PCOS can get pg and stay pg.  hope that encourages you some.  i have heard some people with PCOS can either be hard to stimulate or the easiest ones to stimulate.   Tim and Clarice Baker

Yes, I have PCOS but would not get a dr. to officially diagnose me until a month ago.  We have male and female factor and we were blessed to conceive and carry a baby girl to term after 5 cycles of Clomid, 3 which resulted in ovulation, 2 of which were done with IUI and one that resulted in a chemical pg.   Hope that is encouraging for you.  We are currently trying for another one and I am on metformin 500 mg 3 times a day but have not done the clomid yet.  So far, no luck…4 failed cycles.
