Stein-Leventhal is the same as PCOS.  And it is definitely possible, to have "regular" period and have PCOS.  I hadn’t heard of anyone, but I checked out a couple of sites.  This is one you might find informative: http://www.ivf.com/pcostreat.html Hope this helps! Claudia

Hi, hope this is the right address to respond to… For ten years after initial diagnosis of PCO, 1 year on pill you could mark your calendar by my PERIODS, but I never was ovulating regularly!  You’re supposed to have menses 14 days after ovulation… sometimes I’d ovulate the week after my period, sometimes just days before…  at least I’d show the external signs of it (cervical mucous changes.)   A catastrophic change in metabolism/activity (broken leg and fractured ankle in the middle of winter–I live on a farm and went from daily chores to spending 4 months doing next to nothing–and suddenly I was irregular, cramping so much I would go into mild shock etc.  That’s when I had enough and finally found out about what PCO is… My Dr. doesn’t think I was ever really ovulating.  You can certainly have periods without ever popping an egg.  I breed horses for a living, and the body is amazing in it’s ability to mimic fertility without ever having a follicle! Hi all .. I have been lurking for a bit here , and it seems that everyone has menstration problems… I have every symptom of PCO BUT missed/irregular periods….. I am overweight, have acne (since age 8), hirsuitism (on chin, under chin, face, naval area) VERY thin in the hair on top of my head, depression (on and off for YEARS) …PMS…Lots of cramping before my period … and I have endrometreosis.  I’ve also had enlarged ovaries and was treated with BCP ….. I didn’t have much trouble getting pregnant … one child .. took me about 6 months to conceive.  About ten years ago, I was diagnosed (but don’t remember HOW) .. with stein-leventhal.  I have recently gone to the Dr. for bloodwork.. no results back yet… My question to the group is … CAN a woman have PCO and have ‘regular’ periods? Thanks SO much! Chris
