"Transcutaneous patch" hair removal scams
Question:
Hi Lisa, My hair *is* that tough, which is why I was shocked when the Nair stuff worked. I don’t wax because waxing effectively removes *skin* but not hair. There’s some pain…… I’m sorry you can’t use the chemicals….it looks like you may have to go electrolysis or just shave endlessly. Sorry. gee… i’ve got hair that’s so tough i can’t even get it WITH the tweezers. i have waxed my legs in the past, but i have to let the hair get REALLY long so the wax will grab it, and even then some hairs i have to go back and tweeze. worse, once the hair gets long enough to wax, it’s about to die and be replaced anyway, so even if PCOS didn’t make my hair grow super fast and furtiosly thick to begin with, the results are bound to be not-so-long-lasting. i have had success waxing my belly – most of the hair there responds to waxing if i let it get a little long, but some of the thicker ones i have to go back and pluck. it’s my chin that’s the worst… i have tried letting those hairs grow so i can wax them, but i end up just removing all the fuzzy down that you have all over your body but can’t see… and the coarse nasty hair i care about stays right where it is. so my skin has this bizzarre, wrong, slick feeling with random coarse long whiskers sticking out. ugh! then i worry the formerly invisible down is going to come back visible and terminal. i have to pluck the nasties on my chin. but some of those ellude plucking… the tweezers go "plink, plink" and then the hair snaps. grrrr! and then there’s those damn white hairs that you can feel but can’t see to grab with the tweezers… so i’ve got no advice for ya. just… understanding. i am not ready to break down and shave, and i don’t like the idea of using depilitories on my face for some reason… i don’t want to do anything to the hairs that aren’t bad yet. i know that shaving, etc isn’t supposed to make the problem worse… but i am taking no chances. i only want to attack the hairs that are coarse and nasty, and i want to leave the other stuff alone. – jodi *<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>* I turned to look, but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child has grown, the dream is gone… – Pink Floyd *<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*

Hi all, On the plus side, the new "4 minute Nair" formulation actually *works* for me! I’ve never had a depilatory cream actually work before, even when left on for a period of time long enough to hurt my skin, so I was pleasantly surprised. PCOS certainly makes for hair that is a pain to remove, doesn’t it…. IGIA is the worst bunch of rip off con-artists I’ve ever come across. I tried to contact the company to inquire about a full refund back in 1998 when I bought the damn Igia hair removal system (supposedly like electrolysis). There was no method of contact. I yelled at the manager of the store for selling such a product that had no money back policy. The owner of ULTA 3 cosmetics out in Long Island, NY, would not refund my purchase or even give me a store credit. Store owners know what a SCAM this is, and they should be ashamed for selling it. I followed the directions thoroughly. It was painstaking, time wasting, and it NEVER WORKED. Not even an eency weency bit. I’d like to find thier factory and burn it down for basically raping consumers like myself who have desperate image-threatening hair removal issues. Absolutely F*(#ing ridiculous. That wasn’t the only scam I encountered… I’ll go on my professional electrolygist rant another day! Susan "Trasea1" <tras…@hotmail.com> wrote in message

yes, yes… i feel like we’re the butt of so many scams, with so many self-appearance issues to deal with with PCOS. weight, body hair… i don’t know how these scams even get air time on the TV or radio. i mean… the FCC is so concerned about people saying certain 4 letter words on the air… but it’s OK for companies to rip people off. WHATEVER. i learned after my IGIA mistake that hair is actually a lousy conductor of electricity and the whole concept is flawed as a result. i also followed the directions exactly… and it didn’t work. of course the directions say "some hairs may take several treatments to kill…" where i guess several is in the area of several hundred? IGIA is like tweezers with a useless electrical cord attached. and for a hundred bucks, it didn’t even pull the hair out as well as my 2 dollar revlon tweezers. all i can do is comfort myself by thinking, the market for scam hair removing products wouldn’t be out there if the world wasn’t full of other hairy people. so even if i lost my money, i’m not the only one suffering… – jodi *<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>* I turned to look, but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child has grown, the dream is gone… – Pink Floyd *<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*<=>*

how did igia rip you off? did you buy the electrolysis thing too and send it back for the money back guarantee and never see your money again? that’s what i did… :( here’s an aside, sorta: the other night my friends and i were watching TV and this product came on called epil stop. they showed sexy happy normal people spraying it on and wiping away hair with ultra smooth results. i kept saying SCAM, SCAM! and my friends (both male) were like "how do you know? why would they claim it works if it doesn’t? it might work. have you ever used it? how do you know for sure it doesn’t work?" and i said, it’s a scam!!! hair removal is the second biggest scam market to women behind dieting. then this woman came on with a terry cloth robe with igia on the lapel and i explained how Igia is the king of hair removal scams. for some reason they believed me then… i didn’t mention that i have been suckered myself. just told them how a bunch of people took a class action lawsuit against igia for the electrolysis thing… how can that company still be in business?????????????? – jodi

LOL, Jodie I was telling my MIL how this doesn’t work too. In one shot of the commercial they show them spraying it on an underarm and wiping, you never see the washcloth before they wipe (of course not because it already has hair on it) but then when they "wipe" the hair off they show the wash cloth and there is hair on it but they keep the wash cloth covering the underarm so you can’t see the actual underarm. Hi everyone– I haven’t posted here in a long time, but I wanted to get the word out about a new hair removal scam on the market. I’ve been adding new sections to my hair removal site in response to a wave of new "transcutaneous patch" hair removal devices. The FDA has not evaluated their illegal claims, and there is no published proof these patches can cause permanent hair removal. Some of the devices sell for as much as $7,500.00! Some scams to avoid: "Touch n’ Go" by IGIA: from the undisputed king of hair removal scams. "AAVEXX" by Global Electrolysis Supply: They keep changing names and sell a brand of almost every hair removal scam out there. "SuperPhaser Gold" by International Hair Removal Systems: this patch is just a new twist on an old scam from the good folks at AHRS, who brought you "transdermal electrolysis" with an electrified Q-Tip. "Pinnacle 1250" by Harmonix: another brand of the IHRS SuperPhaser Gold. "TransQ-2000" by HairLabs International: another brand of the IHRS SuperPhaser Gold. "Coeptis": This quack site sells everything from bogus hair removal devices to AIDS "cures." I also just added a big section on pain management during hair removal, with reviews of several highly-recommended topical anesthetics. For more details, head over to http://www.hairfacts.com See ya! Take care, Andrea
